Beautiful weather, classic snacks and legendary venues - what more could an England cricket fan ask for?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to reclaim the urn following the initial matches.

That will not be happening on this occasion, however, after the hosts' dominant triumph in Adelaide put the hosts 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on home turf.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have 3,000 fans traveling for the final two Tests in the SCG and MCG.

There are also travel parties who will spend the Christmas period overseas, as well as relatives and companions embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The Disappointed Travelers

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials arranged for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "a full year in advance", anticipating a long-awaited triumph.

Instead, they have watched Australia dismantle the tourists in just a short period from their house in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have a meaningful contest upon our arrival."

Lowered Expectations

Hope was abundant about England's chances of ending their 15-year wait for a victory down under ahead of the tour.

But they are now facing the prospect of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 matches when the fourth Test gets under way in Melbourne this week.

The tourists - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent times had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for followers of the team.

But the Ryding siblings said they had low expectations for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all hinges on mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Wafting outside 'outside the line has never featured in the textbooks, and that is primarily due to the frontline batsmen."

Future Prospects

When questioned if he believed England will win a match in this contest, came the reply: "It appears the Aussies are just too good at the moment."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that delivers for the team and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the fans are looking forward to the trip.

"We will have a fantastic experience regardless," commented Katie Ryding. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year overseas. Additionally, it's our first experience away from home during the festive period."

An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her time off.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to fall back on," she finished.
