AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized statement, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.
The mission centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking moment showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Content
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
